‘STARS IN MY EYES’ delves into ideas of inverted and metaphorical spaces that re-cast relationships between light and darkness and finite and infinite space. 13 artists present work fitting to a theme set by artist-curator Ismail Erbil, with all the works having to be predominantly black in colour. Taking inspiration from Martin Creed’s controversial Turner Prize-winning piece Work No 227, Minimalism and science fiction phenomena such as time and light-travel, Erbil seeks to engage conceptually with ideas of space, light, ‘marking the now’, oppositions between fantasy and reality and ideas surrounding the presence or relative absence of art objects as starting points for ‘STARS IN MY EYES’. Veiled, darkened and blackened, the works presented in the exhibition hint at a sense of the lights having just been switched on or off to disrupt the act of looking and the relationship between art objects and the gallery space.

HOT-ONE-HUNDRED is a show of 100 emerging contemporary artists based in the U.K. Following an Open Call format, 100 artists were selected by Ismail Erbil and Patrick Michalopoulos, artist-curators of Schwartz Gallery, one of the largest and longest-running of the current crop of artist-run spaces in London.
A reference to ranking systems seen in latenight popular music T.V programmes and art world power lists the exhibition creates a ‘HOT-ONE-HUNDRED moment’ in the emerging U.K contemporary art scene, whilst also offering up an opportunity for a solo show in the gallery to one artist. Playfully mimicking the creation of power lists in the worlds of art, entertainment and business HOT-ONE-HUNDRED satirises this ‘heat’ phenomenon while simultaneously becoming an agent for its proliferation.
