Shadow of My Former Self is a meditation on the role physical clothing plays in shaping our image and what it means to individual identity when these items are rejected and left behind— effectively marking the death of the former self. The performative work explores materiality, alternate realities, mediation and the expanded field of painting.
The .Gif series reanimates the work and engages the viewer through the intimacy of their smart device— the same reflective interface used for their own image mediation, creation and consumption.
